About Us
MKKF's “Extending Our Hands” focuses on supporting financially backward people in their need irrespective of religion, language, and caste. This is fully managed by the Kalluparambil family members with their own financial contributions.
The proposal of this initiative was submitted by Anoop Kurian, son of Adv. K. Kurian Kalluparambil on 25 Nov 2022.
This non-profit organization is formed in the memory of Mr. Mathew Kurian and Mrs. Sosamma Kurian, Kalluparambil to avail support to the destitute and provide aid to the needy people.
Mathew Kurian (Late Rtd Army Man)
He was a distinguished individual, known for his military service and contributions to society. He hailed from the esteemed Marukummootil Valayamkuzhi Kalluparambil family and was the grandson of the late Mr. Chandy Valyappan. Born in 1916, as the youngest son of late Mr. Mathew Chandy (Mathu) and Late Mrs. Achamma (Padinjare Moolayi).
He completed his matriculation at SB High School in Changanacherry before joining the British Army in 1936. Throughout his tenure, he exhibited unwavering dedication and courage in fulfilling his duties as a soldier, serving his nation for over a decade. Mr. Kurian possessed a strong command of English, Hindi, and Malayalam, which led to his promotion as a Store In-Charge and an effective liaison between British army officers and soldiers. Following his retirement, Mathew Kurian devoted himself to social welfare activities and the betterment of those around him. He also placed significant emphasis on the educational and spiritual development of his family members. With his resolute character and principles, he played a pivotal role in establishing the roots of the Indian National Congress in the Madappally region of Kottayam. His residence often served as a gathering place for party meetings, regularly hosting notable political figures such as the late Mr. Mathew Maniyangadan (MP), late Mr. P.T Chacko (former Minister), late Velappan (former Minister), and late Mr. Babu Karimattom.
Mr. Kurian's vision revolved around regional development, and he actively organized the community to construct a new road from Moscow to Munnamile, extending to the border stream of the panchayat. Collaborating with Kalluparambil Mr. K.C Mathew (Pappichayi), he successfully brought electricity to Moscow for the first time. Additionally, he engaged in agriculture, cultivating rice on his land. His genuine nature and unwavering commitment earned him immense respect from all who knew him.
Mr. Kurian's involvement extended beyond his military and political pursuits. He also assumed the roles of secretary and teacher in Sunday school classes, which were initiated and led by the late Mr. Chandy Kurian of Valayamkuzhi, due to limited transportation options for children's spiritual development.
Known for his exemplary character, integrity, leadership qualities, and work ethic, Mathew Kurian became a mentor and source of inspiration to many. He excelled as a devoted father and a caring husband, exemplifying unwavering support for his wife, even encouraging her to continue employment during a time when such opportunities for women were rare. He possessed a positive mindset and actively embraced progressive ideas and development. Proficient in mathematics, he also dedicated his time to teaching children. Furthermore, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing chess, and cards. His profound wisdom and adherence to principled values led him to impart valuable advice to his grandchildren, encouraging them to embrace honesty and always choose the right path.
Mathew Kurian departed from this world on August 14, 2009, leaving behind a lasting legacy of wisdom, principles, and guidance.
Sosamma Kurian (Late Rtd Teacher)
She was, the daughter of Palakuzhiyil late Mr. Kurian and late Mrs. Annamma, was born in 1917 in Vakathanam. After completing her matriculation, she pursued a Teachers' Training Course (TTC) from Bukhanan Instituation at Pallam in Kottayam and became a dedicated teacher. She worked in Vakathanam Govt LP School .
After marriage, she joined Madappally Govt LP School. She was a remarkable educator, known for her kindness and beloved by her students and colleagues. Many of her students have gone on to hold influential positions in both governmental and non-governmental sectors. Sosamma had an exceptional command in Malayalam and was a devout follower of Jesus Christ.

Her character was truly remarkable, displaying efficient management skills. She was known for her nobility, wealth of knowledge, and capacity to love. She was admired by many and served as a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would tell stories and take care of her grandchildren in every possible way. Sosamma had a keen interest in Malayalam poems, the Bible, prayers, and staying updated through reading.
Both Mathew Kurian and Sosamma Kurian placed immense importance on education and followed the great quote "Knowledge is the best and important wealth among all wealths", leading their children to achieve exceptional positions in various fields such as education, law, defence, medical, finance, and governmental and non-governmental sectors.
On June 18, 2003, Sosamma Kurian passed away, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable contributions to the lives of many.
